Reconnecting with Yourself for Resiliency and Clarity

Recently a colleague of mine sent out a recommendation for building resiliency and wellness and reducing stress.  It was an iPhone app called Do As One Breathe Together.  I am totally enthralled with this app!  I am telling my stress-ridden clients to get it and practice breathing, reflection and pausing throughout their day as a way to interrupt the mindless running around from meeting to meeting and replace this with mindfulness and clarity.  All it takes is a couple of minutes and anyone can find a couple of minutes several times during the day.

You can also visit their website at their breathing room when you need a break and use the online version to breathe deeply with others. You can even personalize the experience choosing colors, words and mandalas (visuals) as you wish. Check it out and let me know what you think.  I for one think it is amazing.

Do As One is a non-profit started by three friends who care about creating a healthy, connected world.

The Goal: To serve and connect humanity by establishing a legacy of healthy, conscious breathing.

The Vision: One billion people will breathe together synchronously by November 11, 2012.

The Method: To share techniques for daily, optimal breathing and enable global, synchronous breathing through DoAsOne.com.

They use 13 Grand Intentions hourly to connect those breathing together.  The 13 Grand Intentions are Unconditional Love, Nourishment, Peace, Health, Oneness, Harmony, Compassion, Joy, Beauty, Conscious Breathing, Abundance, Gratitude and Forgiveness.

Check out their website and by all means, download the app!

Martin Luther King – Power and Love

“What is needed is a realization that power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love.”

Coaching Works – The benefits of a coaching culture

If you are on the fence about executive coaching read this article by Stacia Garr of Bersin & Associates.  In their 2011 High-Impact Performance Management research on coaching they found that organizations with a coaching culture have much stronger employee engagement, employee productivity and customer satisfaction.  Bersin also found a strong relationship between the effectiveness of organizations at teaching coaching and business outcomes.  In short, coaching organizations are more effective organizations.

A Radical Act – Learning Together

It’s time to really pay attention to how you lead.  Radical times require radical action.  We must learn how to work and learn together, collaborating and using our collective wisdom to adapt to challenges beyond our current capacity to solve.  This quote says it all for me.  What are you doing in your organization to thrive in the emerging future?

“I THINK A MAJOR ACT OF LEADERSHIP RIGHT NOW, CALL IT A RADICAL ACT, IS TO CREATE THE PLACES AND PROCESSES SO PEOPLE CAN ACTUALLY LEARN TOGETHER, USING OUR EXPERIENCES.” ~MARGARET J. WHEATLEY
